Caregiver Qualifications

Are you interested in becoming a Caregiver through one of the premier in-home elder care agencies in the area? Then keep reading to find out what it takes to be a Caregiver through SOS Elder Care.

All of our Caregivers must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered by our agency:
  • You Must Be Over 21 Years of Age

  • A minimum of (6) six months experience providing bed care to patients, including but not limited to: bathing, incontinence care, wheelchair transfers, etc.

  • No criminal convictions (you must be bondable through our bonding company).

  • No history of illegal drug use, or abuse of prescribed drugs that could affect job performance.

  • A clean DMV record (excluding minor traffic violations). (A recent (last 30 days) DMV printout is required)

  • Current car insurance.

  • A working and reliable vehicle that must be with you at all times while at a patient’s/client’s home, and which can provide safe transportation for a patient/client if necessary.

  • Verifiable work history for the past 10 years (must include names and phone numbers of supervisors).

  • The names and contact information of at least (3) three people (Co-Workers) you have worked with at the same job, or in the same department.

After you have filled out an application, our staff will review your application to ensure that you meet our qualifications. Once your application is approved, you will be contacted by telephone to set up an appointment for an interview/orientation. The interview/orientation process usually takes about (2) two hours.

When you come to the interview/orientation, you will need to bring the following:
  • Driver’s License

  • Social Security Card

  • Proof of Current Car Insurance

  • A DMV printout that is dated within the last 30 days (only an official DMV record will be accepted)
Once you have completed and passed the interview process, our background investigations department will conduct a thorough background check of your entire employment, criminal, and drug history, as well as a check of any other information needed to determine your suitability to be placed on jobs through SOS Elder Care.

*You WILL NOT be charged any fees to be placed on a job through SOS Elder Care; we are paid by our Clients. There is never any cost to the Caregiver.
